Apple Can Now Turn Your Airpods Pro into Hearing Aids. What you need to know.

Announced during the Apple September Event last week, the AirPods Pro 2 can now become a fully functioning Hearing Aid available to anyone, becoming the first over-the-counter hearing aid device. Here’s everything you need to know.

Now FDA-approved, the update is expected to be released this October. It all starts with a 5-minute hearing test you can take from your iPhone at home, after taking this test, using the AirPods Pro 2, you will be given the option to create a Personalized Hearing Profile that will boost certain sounds based on your hearing needs and test results. You can retake the test at any time to keep track of your hearing and adjust your Hearing Profile as needed.

Apple AirPods Pro 2 New Features.

It’s important to note that previously, the AirPods Pro did have a lot of hearing accessibility features like Live Listen and Conversation Boost. In fact, according to an iScience study back in 2022, the AirPods Pro was considered to be a Personal Sound Amplification Product, aka helps you with your hearing, but not a direct replacement to your hearing aids.

This feature will for sure change the Hearing Aid industry for the better, bringing Clinical-grade hearing aids in a more affordable and easier-to-get fashion compared to what’s already available. It will be quite interesting to see how other tech giants like Google and Samsung will respond to this announcement over the coming months, so stay tuned here at Tech Exposed.
