The competition for foldable phones has been getting more fierce with each passing year, and it’s about time we see something new in the phone market. Huawei just happened to announce their brand new Trifold phone, the Mate XT Ultimate, which was announced on the 9th of September, 2024, just 2 hours after Apple’s iPhone 16 series, here’s what we know.
What’s New
The Phone has a unique design with a single screen, dual screen mode, and triple screen mode, with the dual screen resembling the average foldable’s open screen, and the triple screen mode resembling a tablet, with the screen size when folded into triple screen mode being 10.2″. All of this is possible due to Huawei’s new hinge, which is made of flexible materials that allow it to bend both ways, enabling the phone to switch between the 3 different screen modes, as the company stated that it “involves two tracks working in tandem to support inward and outward folds.”
The Mate XT Ultimate is also rumored to come with AI features, as well as stylus support.
Phone Specs
The trifold is said to have a 6.4″ cover screen, a 7.9″ dual screen, and finally, 10.2″ for the triple screen, as stated before.
As for the cameras, we get a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultrawide sensor, and a 12MP telephoto camera, and as for the front camera, we get an 8MP camera.
Finally, for the battery and storage, we get a 5,600-mAh battery, 16GBs of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage.
So far, there is no news about the processor, and those specs aren’t 100% confirmed yet; however, as it stands, the concept is interesting, yet there seems to be 1 problem, which is how expensive the phone is, as the Mate XT Ultimate is currently priced at 2,800$, which is very expensive, however, it is a new concept to the market, which does in a way, explain the high price.
