According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple ’s upcoming Mac Mini is expected to drop USB-A ports. In his Power On newsletter, Gurman notes that the new desktops are slated to arrive at Apple’s warehouses in September, with the higher-end model featuring the Apple M4 Pro chipset for an October release.
Gurman’s sources also reveal that the M4 Pro version will include a range of ports, such as five USB-C ports (two on the front and three on the back), an Ethernet port, an HDMI port, and a headphone jack. Additionally, the new Mac Mini is anticipated to have an internal power supply. This is impressive for a computer expected to be about the size of an Apple TV.
Is it time to farewell USB-A? Possibly. However you feel about it, the Mac Mini, with its long-standing design, is certainly overdue for a change.
