Google recently concluded Android 15 testing with Beta 4.2 and is now shifting focus to QPR1. However, a new report reveals that Android 15 won’t reach Pixel devices until October.
According to Android Authority, the Android 15 update for Pixel devices is expected to be released in October, likely around mid-month. The publication indicates that the update won’t be available next month, suggesting that it is “probably being postponed to enhance its stability.”
Following the announcement in July that Android 15 Beta 4 was the “last scheduled update,” some anticipated a release as early as August. However, expectations shifted to September after Google released Beta 4.2 and announced they would wait for the “final public stable release of Android 15 (AP3A), coming soon.”
This delay occurs as the Pixel 9 series is being shipped with Android 14, incorporating some features from the Android 15 Beta. While Android 15 is not the most significant update, it includes key enhancements such as Private Space, a redesigned Material You volume panel, and updates to the widgets picker.
Android Authority also reports that Android 15 is set to be released on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) next week. Although this milestone typically aligns with the Pixel release, there was a 15-day gap between the source code release for Android 12 and the Pixel update. This year’s gap appears to be considerably longer.
