Apple has scheduled its annual iPhone-focused event for Monday, September 9, at the Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California. The event will begin at 10:00 a.m., with invitations extended to select media members.
Apple will reveal the iPhone 16 lineup, new Apple Watch models, and the AirPods 4 at this year’s event. Additionally, we’ll learn the official release dates for iOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and other software updates from Apple.
All four new iPhones should include a customizable Action Button and a new Capture Button for taking photos. The Capture Button will support gestures, such as swiping to zoom and a soft press for autofocus, and will be positioned on the right side of the devices, below the power button.
Apple is equipping all models in the iPhone 16 lineup with the new A18 chip, enabling support for the Apple Intelligence features introduced in iOS 18. While the standard iPhone 16 models are not expected to receive other major updates, the Pro models will see a display size increase, with the Pro going from 6.1 to 6.3 inches and the Pro Max from 6.7 to 6.9 inches. Additionally, both Pro models will now feature the 5x Telephoto zoom option that was previously exclusive to the Pro Max.
The standard Apple Watch Series 10 is anticipated to have a slimmer design with a larger display, though the change will be subtle. Apple also intends to update the Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Ultra, potentially introducing new health features like sleep apnea detection and blood pressure monitoring. However, it remains uncertain whether these features will be available for this year’s launch.
Two models of the AirPods 4 are set to be released: one will directly replace the current AirPods 3, while the other will offer an upgrade with Active Noise Cancellation at a price lower than the Pro models.
Apple plans to stream the fall event live on its website, on YouTube, and through the Apple TV app.
