Windows 11 Fuels AMD’s Zen 5 Breakthrough, What you Need to Know.

AMD claims that Microsoft’s impending Windows 11 version 24H2 upgrade would enhance the performance of its brand-new Zen 5 CPUs. When the Ryzen 9000 series was introduced earlier this month, most reviewers found it to fall short of AMD’s performance claims. Following reports of a Windows problem, AMD has disclosed that Windows 11 version 24H2, scheduled for release next month, will optimize branch prediction code unique to AMD.

AMD acknowledges that while Zen 5 will benefit the most from this Windows upgrade, Zen 4 and Zen 3 will also notice a performance improvement. The chip manufacturer has not disclosed the performance increase of its older CPUs. However, it has predicted a seven percent gain for Cyberpunk 2077 and a 13 percent performance improvement for its 9950X CPU in Far Cry 6, running 24H2 instead of 23H2. For a single Windows update, both are pretty significant increases. To “roll out this optional update to all Windows 11 users soon,” AMD claims it is “collaborating with Microsoft.”

Windows Performance in Games with AMD

In certain instances, reviewers discovered that AMD’s new flagship Ryzen 9 9950X offered less value than the prior generation Ryzen 9 7950X. Hardware Unboxed discovered that the 9950X was just 1% quicker than the 7950X throughout a 13-game average at 1080p with an RTX 4090. For productivity activities, the difference was only 3%.

Now that the Zen 4 and Zen 3 processors will also be enhanced, we’ll have to wait for testers to put 24H2 through its paces with these newest Ryzen chips before determining whether AMD’s claims of a more significant increase to them are valid. AMD maintains that the Ryzen 9000 series “delivers leadership performance across content creation, productivity, and AI applications” despite the 9950X’s lackluster first gaming benchmark scores.

In conclusion, the Windows 11 24H2 update could boost AMD’s Zen 5 processors, offering notable performance gains across multiple CPU generations. This collaboration with Microsoft may finally showcase the full potential of AMD’s latest chips, shifting the narrative in their favor.
