ORIGNAL POST: This morning, an update released by Crowdstrike, caused Microsoft Windows machines that have the software to crash without the ability to reboot. Here’s what happened.
The issue stems from CrowdStrike’s Falcon Agent, The company’s flagship antivirus/cybersecurity protection software. Who earlier, released an update that caused Windows machines to blue screen and then not be able to boot into the system again.
The issue has affected Banks, Governments, Airports, Retailers, Airlines, Stock Exchanges, Telecoms, and News Channels like SkyNews, ABC News, and more, causing them all to go offline.
Crowdstrike has issued a statement saying that they have “Identified the issue and a fix has been deployed.” They go further to state that their team is “fully mobilized to ensure the security and stability of CrowdStrike customers.”
CrowdStrike has also stated that it was not a security incident or a cyberattack and that it was a mistake from the company’s end.
An executive from CrowdStrike has given a workaround for this issue, but it is a manual one.
It is still unclear at the time of writing how this fix will be deployed, considering that affected systems are completely offline.
Both Microsoft and CrowdStrike shares have fallen in the pre-market as this issue continues to affect the world.
