The upcoming Google Pixel 6, has been the center of debate over the supposed top-end option. Some think it will be called the Pixel 6 Pro, more say Google will stick with the XL suffix we’ve seen in the past, and others think so. It won’t be a big phone like the Pixel 5.
The name ‘Google Pixel 6 XL’ now seems more likely as Google refers to the device itself.
At the time of writing, the company is hosting a conference for mobile game developers, and as XDA developers found out, a form sent to developers pertains to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 XL as phone samples.
The form requested “Devices to which these back buffer resizing settings should be applied (ex. Pixel 6, Pixel 6 XL, etc.)” although the form has since been edited to remove the brackets where the device names are located.
Chances are, the person who works for Google who wrote the survey knows the Pixel 6 has not been released yet and it seems very unlikely that it was a typo. Perhaps the names were included as a way to trick us, but the fact that they removed the names from them says something else.
If something seems very likely, it is that Google won’t list these device names if they are incorrect. If there wasn’t a Pixel 6 XL, or if it were called the Pixel 6 Pro, the Pixel 6 XL would almost certainly not be mentioned in this document.
So we can comfortably say hello to a new Google Pixel 6 XL alongside its standard sibling. But, we still have no idea when they will be released, what they will look like, or how much they will cost.
