On Tuesday, Microsoft released its first developer preview for Windows 11, and because I like living on the edge, I installed on my PRIMARY PC, and to be honest, it is very stable.
Features
Windows 11 includes a bunch of new features and improvements to the operating system starting with the new design.
First thing you would notice is the new taskbar/start menu, it features a glass looking design and the icons are now centered (you can make make it align to the left) and aswell as 2 new icons Task View and Widgets (widgets don’t launch for me).
In Task View you have the ability to create multiple desktops to manage your workflow and reduce window clutter on the desktop.
Both File Explorer and Settings got a redesign with new icons to fit Windows 11 (The Microsoft Store redesign coming in a future update)
Control Center Received a long-needed redesign that removes the old Wi-Fi and Sound popup and merges it to one.
The new Windows 11 Setup provides a cleaner and minimalist look to the setup experience.
Upcoming Features
Some features coming to Windows 11 that will be added in upcoming previews include:
Android App Support
Microsoft Store Redesign
Microsoft Teams Integration
Disclaimer
Tech Exposed does not recommend installing these previews on a machine you use daily, as there will be bugs and unfinished features. In fact, Microsoft has a number of known issues it lists, and these are the important ones you should be aware of:
The taskbar will not be shown across multiple monitors (will be fixed in an upcoming build)
When upgrading a device with multiple user accounts to Windows 11, Settings will fail to launch
The Microsoft Store install button might not be functional yet in “some limited scenarios”
